Artist's Comments

The situation is grim. Resources are scarce as the red giant they have relied on for so many centuries enters the last phase of its life. Wars spring up at the slightest provocation.

In this harsh world, a pampered rich boy forms an unlikely friendship with a street urchin. As they grow up, the rich boy promises to buy the poor boy's freedom, as is required of all families once a male child reaches 16. Otherwise the young man must receive implants and become part of the government's cyber-human forces, to serve as a soldier, assassin, spy, or whatever the government asks of him.

But another relationship arises, and the rich boy is forced to choose between what he believes is best for his sister, and his promise to his best friend.

As their world sinks into darkness, he discovers that some decisions cannot be unmade...and some wrongs must be paid for in blood...

This was inspired by an old song called "Dawn, Go Away".[link]

"Dawn...go away, back where you belong
Girl, we can't change the places where we were born..."

Interesting. Reminds me a bit of Keiko Takamiya's work.

Pretty good. Nice story. I'd add a bit of shading under the center guy's chin, but other than that, gorgeous work.

It gives me the creeps.... to know that the sun will go away eventually. I doubt the human race will last until then, but if it does, they'll have to find somewhere else somehow.

Weird thought, isn't it? O_O

It's a scary thought... the only reassurance is that I won't be around XI

i think the left eye of the middle face is a bit to much on the right...
and maybe eyes are a bit to drk or to thin, it gives a sort of antipathetic expression more than sadness...

but i like the hair...

Those eyes are... :faint:
